The interrupted surface of recessed polka dots collects and removes the metal filings during the polishing process.
Grit guide:
GREY (XX-Coarse)= offers serious metal removal in the shortest time (120 grit);
BLACK (X-Coarse)= offers best cutting action (220 grit);
BLUE (Coarse)= for routine edge maintenance and sharpening (325);
RED (Fine)= for deburring and edge polishing (600);
GREEN (X-fine)= for ultra smooth edge polishing (1200)
RaceWax recommendations:
The diamonds are uniformly sized and bonded to a metal backing to provide a long lasting very flat surface.
We recommend water or a 50/50 water/alcohol mix on diamond stones for lubrication and to wash away the ground material.
After use, rinse your stones with the 50/50 water/alcohol mix. It will remove the metal filings left on the surface that could rust. Dry the stones thoroughly so they can be stored dry. If your diamond stone becomes dirty you can use a tooth brush and a household abrasive cleaner to clean up the stones.
The life of the diamond is a factor of how often you use your stone and how well you take care of it. Test the stone on the side of an old glass jar. Rub the stone against the glass to see if it leave scratches or frosts the glass. If you see evidence of scratches or frost, there is still diamond left on your stone that can be used for sharpening.

This item ships free to all of the 50 USA states! Our primary domestic shipping method is USPS First Class for items under one pound and USPS Priority for heavier items. Ski tuning tables and similar large items as well as pressurized flammable liquid products will ship UPS Ground as legally required.
CANADA & WORLDWIDE: Click the Shipping and Payments tab and select your country for the shipping charge. Any duty or fees that may be imposed by your country's customs office is your responsibility to know and pay; additional taxes/duties/fees imposed by your country are not included in the price.
Shipping costs may be reduced when combining multiple items; price reduction is based on product weight, ask first with a specific list of items. Shipping costs cannot be reduced after the items have been shipped.
NOTE! First Class shipping can take 1-2 WEEKS, and up to 4 WEEKS; if you need it sooner ask for a quote on PRIORITY (1-2 WEEKS) or EXPRESS (1 WEEK) before you buy.
FOREIGN CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ: Customs documents will display the actual purchase amount as required by law. Requests to mark shipments as gifts will not be honored without warning. Liquid products cannot be shipped to foreign countries.
